Vegetarian Food at Steakhouse Restaurants- Logan's, Longhorn, Outback & More

Most Steakhouses offer multiple selections of fresh vegetables

So your friends want to go to a steakhouse for dinner.  What the heck are you supposed to eat, if you’re hoping to eat vegetarian?!  Well prepare to be pleasantly surprised!  Most steakhouse chains now have an impressive selection of side dishes, vegetarian appetizer options, and a nice variety of salads.  You might say potatoes and salads constitute “the usual suspects”.  Many steak restaurants not only have fries, mashed potatoes, and baked potatoes, but now have baked sweet potatoes and sweet potato fries.  Also look for lots of fresh vegetables like green beans, steamed broccoli, and asparagus.  If all else fails, rationalize yourself a great dessert.

Preview your vegetarian food options below for Logan’s Roadhouse, Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon, Longhorn Steakhouse, Outback Steakhouse, Salt Grass Steakhouse, Texas Land & Cattle, and Texas Roadhouse.  Please note that selections may vary by season and location.

  1. So you're sure that none of these soups have chicken/beef broth? Also, parmesan isn't vegetarian. Neither is most Caesar dressing. Mashed potatoes often contain chicken broth as well. If you're absolutely certain that all these things are vegetarian, that's great, but I'm wondering if you really are.

  2. Caesar salad dressing has anchovies so it is not vegitarian.

  3. I wouldn't use this guide as a be all end all. I went to a Texas roadhouse recently and asked the waitress what was vegetarian and found that the baked sweet potatoes, regular baked potatoes and the green beans are basted with bacon grease, the mashed potatoes have chicken stock in them and as someone previously stated the Cesar dressing has anchovies in them. Always ask your waiter or waitress/ ask them to ask what is actually vegetarian.

  4. Their mashed potatoes, green beans, baked potato, and sweet potato are NOT vegetarian or vegan. The mashed potatoes are made with chicken stock, and the two other potatoes are basted with bacon grease. The green beans actually have bacon IN them.

  5. Texas Roadhouse's baked potatoes are rendered in bacon grease, definitely NOT vegetarian.

  9. Logan's rice pilaf is cooked in chicken fat, and marshmallows aren't vegetarian because they have gelitin in them. I'd also be wary of ceaser salad dressing, as some contain fish products. Everything else listed for Logans is correct, though.

  12. So I went to Texas Roadhouse for a family members birthday and I read the reviews that they put bacon grease on the baked potato and baked yam. But as you know, sometimes there is a long wait. I asked the waiter if they could cook one without bacon grease. They did, but the wait was an hour. However, I ordered it before the rest of the party arrived. Then we took our sweet time talking and chatting and eventually ordered. I got a house salad (my husband ordered his without eggs, I with eggs). My sweet potato arrived when everyone's food arrived.
